App: IDEAS Connects iPhone Directly with Idea Management in SAP System
The first connection of a mobile app that connects idea management to an SAP software system worldwide: trust&soft and target software solution presented the App: IDEAS for mobile idea management in Mannheim, Germany, on November 10, 2010
The solution was developed with target’s partner trust&soft, a company specialized in the development of mobile solutions for business applications.
The mobile app enables users to create an idea with a key word, description, and images, as well as video or audio recordings, on an iPhone and send it directly to an SAP system. The target Idea Management software in the SAP system receives the data and stores it as a draft of an idea of the submitter. At a later time, the submitter can further process the idea at his or her PC and submit the idea. The technical realization of the connection is based on the technology developed by trust&soft that can be implemented without additional middleware. The back-end SAP system uses Web services from target’s idea management software.
The mobile version of the idea management application is targeted at employees in companies who come up with an idea for improvement on the spot and want to quickly take a photo or record a video or audio, and then send this information along with a key word to the idea management system.
The attendees at the info day were able to see first-hand how simple and easy ideas could be submitted using the new app – and could test it out themselves using available mobile devices. Partners trust&soft and target software solution are currently developing additional mobile apps for idea management, for example, that check the status of submitted ideas or allow users to search for existing ideas.
Trust&soft was founded in 2002 by former SAP employee Volker Kuecherer. The first few years of the company focused on providing consulting services on a national and international level for the SAP ERP Human Capital Management (SAP ERP HCM) application, with an emphasis on employee self-services and manager self-services.
In 2008, trust&soft began to focus on the development of mobile HCM processes. The first showcase for a mobile leave request and approval, with team overviews, was introduced in 2009 as part of a mobile “@ituor” suite to HCM professionals.
With the development of an independent platform based on HR-XML that updates ERP back-end systems, trust&soft was able to provide a technology in early 2010 that enabled customers to read and store data quickly to their ERP back-end systems with mobile applications in real time– without additional and time-consuming effort or middleware.
For example, employees can easily submit a leave request from their iPhones and send it to an SAP system. Employee managers can check the availability of the wider team and then approve the request immediately with their own mobile devices.
The new App: Ideas for target software solution was developed based on the independent platform. Other mobile applications for updating skills, shift planning, and cross-application timesheets are currently in development.
