SYSGO announces PikeOS™ support of ARM Cortex-A15 based hardware virtualization

(PresseBox) (Klein-Winternheim, )
SYSGO, a leading supplier of software solutions for the world's most demanding safety and security embedded applications is demonstrating a safe and secure virtualization platform based on ARM® Cortex®-A15 based hardware during the Embedded World event.

SYSGO's use of ARM Cortex-A15 processor is bringing safety & security benefits of certified PikeOS and resulting in a high performance safe and secure virtualization platform.

PikeOS's software virtualization brings safety and security for your applications running concurrently on the same processor. By supporting hardware virtualization, PikeOS offers the same level of performance you would get by running your different applications running alone on the same processor.

The demo presented on SYSGO booth (5-371) consists of a Cortex-A15 based target board running applications on top of Linux partition under PikeOS. This demonstration shows Linux receiving no loss in performance whilst being hosted by the Safe & Secure PikeOS virtualization product. "This is a significant step forward with our continued support of the ARM product range. The hardware assistance we receive from the ARM cores gives PikeOS the ability to host guest operating systems in a safe and secure manner with negligible loss of performance," said Stuart Fisher, Director of Technical Marketing at SYSGO.

"SYSGO has been supporting ARM platforms for more than a decade with their ELinOS and PikeOS products" said Richard York, vice president of embedded CPU marketing, ARM. "We welcome SYSGO's commitment to support our Cortex-A15 processor as their technical leadership in safe and secure virtualization is highly complementary to our portfolio and offers a strong solution for our industrial customers."

PikeOS has been running on ARM architectures since the beginning in 2006. SYSGO is committed to provide safe and secure virtualization on ARM devices by leveraging the latest hardware virtualization features on the Cortex-A15 processor, Cortex-A50 series and the recently announced ARMv8-R architecture.

About PikeOS

PikeOS is both an RTOS and a hypervisor built upon the Safe and Secure Virtualization (SSV) technology that enables multiple operating system interfaces, called Personalities, to work safely and securely on separate sets of resources within a single machine. PikeOS has the largest range of supported Personalities of the market, including PikeOS Native, ARINC 653, Linux, POSIX, Certified POSIX, Android™, RTEMS, AUTOSAR, iTRON and others. The PikeOS microkernel architecture allows it to be used in cost sensitive, resource constrained devices as well as large, complex systems with real-time performance that competes head-to-head with conventional proprietary RTOS solutions. PikeOS is hardware agnostic and supports both single- and multi-core processors. PikeOS includes CODEO, an Eclipse-based integrated development environment that provides guided configuration, remote debugging (often down to the hardware instruction level), target monitoring, remote application deployment, and timing analyses in addition to standard application development features such as compilers and assemblers. PikeOS is certifiable to safety standards like DO-178B/C, IEC 61508, EN 50128, IEC 62304 or ISO 26262, is MILS compliant, and is currently involved in various security standard Common Criteria EAL 5/6 certification projects. Recently PikeOS achieved the first EN 50128 SIL 4 certification of the market on a multi-core system.
