.
- Integration of control electronics for camera systems and vehicle information prior to series production
- Joint development of customer projects based on the new platform
- Production planned to start at the end of 2015

After Continental also Magna now relies on SYSGO's Hypervisor PikeOS to consolidate complex applications in automotive electronics. The new technology will initially be used in Magna's 360-degree view system SurroundVue™ and integrates camera system and vehicle information system on the same hardware. The new platform creates the basis for further joint customer projects. Production is expected to begin at the end of 2015.

"Through the use of our PikeOS hypervisor in the automotive industry we are delivering safety and security functions that guarantee all-round security in the car," explains Norbert Kuhrt, VP Sales at SYSGO. "Our collaborative work with Magna is another important step in establishing our hypervisor technology in the automotive industry."

PikeOS in automotive electronics

PikeOS has been used for many years as basic software in aviation electronics to reduce the number of isolated components and therefore also the complexity of the entire system. The increasing number of software applications and assistance systems means that automotive electronics require similar system architectures to those used in aviation. For this purpose, with PikeOS, SYSGO is offering a hypervisor that can host various software packages in individual partitions and controls communication and data flow between the applications and the hardware. This means that it is also possible to integrate software packages of different critical levels in one high-performance hardware platform. Any necessary certifications according to functional safety standards (e.g. ISO 26262) or for IT security (e.g. Common Criteria) can be obtained separately for each application. Functions such as SecureBoot and SecureUpdate improve the security of the entire system, even for updates of individual components of the software landscape.
