SVOX speech solutions - A success story on Windows CE platforms

SVOX's highly adaptable speech output solutions running on Microsoft Windows CE have been attracting a growing market share in the expanding navigation market

(PresseBox) (Zurich, )
In the expanding navigation market devices based on Windows operating systems and powered by SVOX speech output solutions gain more and more market traction. This is due to the fact that usage of these two software packages allows engineers to speed up product development while maintaining high flexibility until market launch. In addition, SVOX's collaborative, customer-focused approach demonstrated, for example, by an outstanding responsiveness, contributes to extremely short lead times for developers.

One example for best practice integration of SVOX TTS on Windows Automotive is Clarion's Multimedia Station NAX963H. This advanced in-car navigation system powered by Windows Automotive and SVOX Automotive lets motorists enjoy sound and navigation announcements in their cars with great comfort and satisfaction (see SVOX Press Release, August 29th, 2006 on http://www.svox.com/...).

In the portable navigation sector the multi-faceted Medion MD 96050 demonstrates an excellent integration of SVOX Mobile on Windows CE. The multi-functional navi ensures a user-friendly integration of the many device features (MP3, Picture Viewer and POI). Oliver Stauch, Chief Editor of the distinguished German journal "auto connect", recognizes: "The Medion device boasts the best speech synthesis, the editorial staff has ever heard" (translated form German - "auto connect", 2nd edition 2006, p.3).

SVOX's remarkable service culture along with the outstanding quality of SVOX speech solutions makes the company a highly attractive partner and one of the leading providers of next generation navigation solutions. "Consumers are demanding real added value from navigation and infotainment devices and SVOX speech output technology is all about improving HMI. The intuitive, speech-enabled user interface guides the driver through the navigation menu with the highest comfort level", said Stephan Scharf, Partner Manager, Microsoft Automotive Business Unit (see SVOX Press Release August 29th, 2006 on http://www.svox.com/...).

"Porting our text-to-speech technology to the Windows platforms has been a rewarding experience", said Volker Jantzen, CEO of SVOX. "Together with Microsoft, we can create groundbreaking navigation systems. Our advances in speech technology are all focused on in-car safety and convenience issues". SVOX calls itself the "Speech in Motion" company highlighting its unsurpassed expertise in speech solutions for automotive and mobile devices.
