SVOX, the leading provider of speech solutions, today announced that it has entered into a wide-ranging partnership agreement with Cyberon Corporation, a leading Taiwanese embedded speech firm. Taiwanese companies are the world’s biggest manufacturers of mobile phones, eBook readers, MP3 players and other consumer electronics. The announced collaboration will allow SVOX to drive penetration of speech technologies in these devices. SVOX stands to benefit from Cyberon’s knowledge of the Taiwanese market as well as from the local customer support.

The companies have already completed joint development projects that make the SVOX language portfolio even more competitive in Asia. For example, the collaboration has produced best-in-class Mandarin and Cantonese Chinese languages that include SVOX polyglot technology, enabling Asian voices to speak English as a native speaker.

“SVOX text-to-speech solutions are industry-leading and the breadth of the language portfolio is impressive,” said Tai Ho, Cyberon CEO. “We are delighted to partner with SVOX to offer our customers in Taiwan a world-leading speech quality and local support.”

Martin Reber, SVOX CEO, noted: “Taiwan is a hotbed of global consumer electronics design and manufacturing, as well as a gateway to the vast Greater China market. By partnering with Cyberon we are able to accelerate our growth in these markets as well as strengthen our technology leadership.”

SVOX is constantly working to extend and update its portfolio of polyglot ASR and TTS languages. Customers can now choose from a total of 19 ASR and 26 TTS languages, with additional languages under development.
