Dr.Theodor Stiebel, founder of the firm, started out in Berlin in 1924 with the intention of developing and building products that would consume the minimum of energy while offering greater safety and convenience. Eighty-three years later STIEBEL ELTRON is one of the most successful companies involved in manufacturing household and system technologies – with forward-looking concepts that will ensure continued success in this segment of the market. The main focus is on systems to provide home ventilation with heat recovery, solar and heat pump systems, or intelligent linking of one system with another, as in, for example, a solar system combined with an electronic instantaneous water heater.

In its endeavours to bring about still further expansion of the company's core capabilities both within and outside Europe, STIEBEL ELTRON has augmented and strengthened its activities through the purchase of Electrolux Haustechnik GmbH, Nuremberg. Using the brand names AEG and Zanker, the company sells products for heating water and providing central heating.
The STIEBEL-ELTRON-Group has its headquarters in Holzminden / Germany and factories in Eschwege /Germany, Poprad / Slowakia, Bangkok / Thailand and Tianjin / China. Fourteen subsidiaries and numerous representatives and sales partner offices around the world look after the company's interests outside Germany.
