Als Hersteller eines Content Management Systems ist man zunehmend dem Vergleich mit OpenSource-Produkten ausgesetzt. In der Wahrnehmung durch die Endanwender steht "OpenSource" gleichbedeutend für "kostenlos". Das wird weder der sinnvollen OpenSource-Bewegung noch den Anbietern kommerzieller Software gerecht. Unter anderem werden bei diesem kostenlosen BusinessBrunch das neue Lizenzmodell mit der neuen lizenzkostenfreien Basisversion vom 'step one Solution Server 2006 ' und das neue Partnerkonzept vorgestellt. Ein weiterer Fokus wird auf den neuen Funktionen liegen, die die Leistungsfähigkeit der Software steigern und neue Projekte und Themenbereiche für step one Partner erschließen sollen.
