The IBC media trade fair looms on the horizon and Starline, with its long-standing partners ATTO and Infortrend, is at the forefront. In preparation to the show, the Starline product managers are already showing coherent solutions that will make working life easier for media professionals.

Over the years, Infortrend has become an established player in the field of storage. The storage pioneers received the "Storage Product of the Year" and the "Cloud Enabler of the Year" awards from the British trade press for their hybrid cloud series EonStor GSc.
ATTO, on the other hand, impresses with its sophisticated solutions when it comes to harmonizing different network topologies. For this purpose they offer fast Fibre Channel HBAs, SAS/SATA RAID controllers, Ethernet network cards or Thunderbolt™ 3 adapters. If you combine the know-how of both SAN experts in one project, it becomes an extremely powerful cooperation.

Example: EonStor DS and Thunderlink®

The EonStor DS series from Infortrend is a highly available SAN storage solution suitable for medium to large enterprises. Its hardware design is characterized by flexible hostboards, modular design and high expandability. That is why the series is ideally suited for all SAN environments and enterprise applications specializing in video editing. With data rates of up to 11,000/5,500 MB/s and 700,000 IOPS, it is unlikely to face a standstill of a video stream.

ATTO provides the connection to Apple's® Mac Pros®, which are widely used in the media world. With the help of their fast Thunderbolt™ 3 interfaces, the streams and video snippets of the individual editing suites reach the native network of the storage system via Thunderlink®.

With an optimized performance of up to 2750 MB/s per workstation, the supply of HD, 4K and 8K streams can be ensured.

An exemplary product maintenance is what both suppliers have in common. The storage veterans offer products with 25 Gbps fast iSCSI technology as well as 32 Gbps fast Fibre Channel adapters and hostboards. (The latter will be presented at the IBC by Infotrend.)

A successful installation was recently put into operation at the renowned animation film studio Splash. The result is a central and highly available storage infrastructure with high productivity and low costs. Another Starline partner was also involved in this project: Tiger Technology. The internationally positioned media specialist contributed the appropriate storage controllers. In addition, Tiger is valued for its software-defined data management solutions in the industry, which offer a universal concept for the virtualization and unification of storage infrastructures.
