SorTech becomes innovation driver in energy-efficient refrigeration technology

New organisational concept enables growth and customised adaptations

(PresseBox) (Halle (Saale), )
SorTech AG, pioneering energy-saving and eco-friendly adsorption chillers, reorganised itself in order to better meet market requirements. Newly formed business divisions will not only help achieve planned growth rates but also further fast-track and qualify the sales approach and compliance with customer requests. The top priority of this effort is not development of standard products but tailored fulfilment of demands of customers in industry, trades and consulting. A further target is consistent furthering of research into novel sorption technologies and new sector-unrelated applications.

SorTech reorganised its corporate structure in early 2013 in order to better control its planned growth. The highly innovative company is now structured into the business divisions adsorption chillers and sorption technologies. The ‚Adsorption chiller‘ division covers the previous ASC equipment generation and the new ergonomic eCoo units for scalable provision of cooling demands. Customers and partners of this division include mechanical engineering and construction firms, planners, installers as well as heating, cooling and air-conditioning contractors who integrate the units into their own products or combine them into package solutions. Primary objective of this SorTech business area is manufacturing highly efficient and flexible equipment that can be smoothly integrated by the business partners.

The second division, ‘Sorption technologies‘, is the true think-tank of SorTech focusing on research and development activities. Companies in a large variety of sectors, e.g. automotive supply industry, already benefit from the R&D outcomes – either through licensing or under contract research schemes. At ISH trade show in Frankfurt am Main in March 2013 SorTech will present for the first time new sorption technologies that will give access to completely new user groups. The newly-developed zeolite technology allows, e.g., a drastic reduction of unit sizes which enables realisation high-performance, mobile applications in various industrial areas.

The business division ‘Sorption technologies’ is currently also responsible for the R&D application area ‘Heat pump units‘ which will later become a separate division. The newly-developed SorTech heat pump units with zeolite technology distinguish themselves by above-average thermal efficiency and are provided as classical OEM components. The heat pump application range is directly addressed to fitters of heat pump systems who are invited to pursue joint, customer-specific product development.

Development into a customer value maximizer
“The clearly-defined target of our restructuring was to ensure optimal approach and provision of services for our various target groups. We are committed to helping our partners to highly efficiently implement their own standards and solutions with our technology without reduction of their value added. Moreover, we enable our partners to maximal flexibility when choosing supplementing components,” explains Walter Mittelbach, SorTech AG CEO, the new corporate organisation. “We are capable of offering individual adaptations and customised solutions in all divisions. And the division ‘Sorption technologies’ acts as an ‘incubator’ to ensure consistent further development of all SorTech products and tap new business sectors.”

In addition, a Germany- and Europe-wide network of partners for competent and swift on-site consultancy which covers sales and after-sales service was established. All sales and service partners are comprehensively qualified and very much familiar with integrating different heat sources.

Sortech AG

SorTech AG has been a developer and manufacturer for more than ten years of energy efficient and very high-output chillers for low and medium cooling requirements. Cold is not generated with electric power but low-temperature excess heat and thus curbs both operating costs and worldwide CO2 emissions.
Adsorption chillers – in combination with solar-thermal systems, local and district heating station, CHPs and industrial waste heat – are ideally suited for cooling, technical processes as well as single- and multi-family dwellings. More than 400 SorTech systems are already operational worldwide.
