3S Swiss Solar Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of 3S Industries AG, has increased its sales activities in India. With the first semi-automatic production line which has already been delivered, Emmvee Photovoltaics has now begun manufacturing highly efficient solar modules in Bangalore for the global market. Other customers from the region have also ordered 3S production systems. The 3S solar group is rapidly capturing the Indian market.
After entering the business sector of turnkey, automated production lines last year, 3S Swiss Solar Systems has now delivered the first turnkey production line for solar modules to the growth market India. The production line, which was delivered only four months after it had been ordered, is now used by Emmvee Photovoltaics at its site in Gangangar (Bangalore) for the production of highly efficient solar modules made of crystalline and metallurgic solar cells.
3S Swiss Solar Systems plans and builds its production lines for the manufacture of solar modules in such a way that the module producers obtain the optimal degree of automation for their needs. The turnkey production lines are offered along with know-how transfer, training, and certification of the modules manufactured with them as well as maintenance and comprehensive service agreements. 3S customers benefit from the unique process knowledge combined in the 3S solar group and have the assurance that their products will continuously meet high quality standards thanks to true turnkey solutions.
The new 25MW production line has been tailored to the specific requirements of Indian customers. “Using a minimum of equipment, we have achieved a maximum in automation”, says Andreas Schöni, Sales Director of 3S Swiss Solar Systems AG. “We are extremely satisfied with the line supplied by 3S because we are able to produce a high yield on a very low breakage rate” explains Mr. D.V. Manjunatha, Managing Director of Emmvee Photovoltaics. Emmvee has already ordered the machines necessary to expand the line to 50MW.
The new line at Emmvee comprises an automatic string soldering station from Somont, a laminating line from 3S Swiss Solar Systems and a module tester from Pasan. The unique soft-touch soldering process from Somont allows extremely gentle handling of the cells, thus reducing the breakage rate to a minimum. Thanks to the patented hybrid heating plate technology of 3S Swiss Solar Systems, module producers accomplish a unique temperature homogeneity at an extremely short heating time and a high throughput. All module testers from Pasan have been developed for highest precision.
In India, the interest in production systems from the 3S Group and its unique process knowledge is high. Somont, 3S Swiss Solar Systems and Pasan have supplied Indian customers with different stringers, laminators and testers in the past. Three more Indian companies have currently placed orders for a turnkey production line for solar modules with 3S Swiss Solar Systems or are about to sign a contract. 3S customers in India benefit not only from top-quality production systems that guarantee highest availability and process stability.
