Katja Weber, die Absolventin der Fachhochschule Kaiserslautern/Zweibrücken ist, hatte im Verlauf des Studiums der Betriebswirtschaft ihren inhaltlichen Schwerpunkt auf das Thema Mittelstandsökonomie gelegt. Im Rahmen ihrer Diplomarbeit setzte sie sich mit der Entwicklung eines IT-unterstützenden Vorgehensmodells für Firmenfusionen in der IT-Branche auseinander. Dabei konnte sie auf ihre Erfahrungen als Diplomandin beim internationalen Lösungsanbieter für Prozesse und IT, der IDS Scheer AG, aufsetzen. Im Jahr 2003 hatte IDS Scheer erfolgreich die Akquisitionen der französischen Groupe Expert und wesentlicher Teile der Plaut AG geplant und umgesetzt.
Katja Weber ist für die Preisverleihung aus Südafrika angereist, wo sie sich ein Jahr lang vorbereitet, um an der Universität Stellenbosch ihr Masters-Diplom (MBA) zusätzlich abzulegen. „Wir freuen uns mit Katja Weber über die Verleihung des Innovationspreises. Er bedeutet nicht nur für sie Annerkennung und Motivation, sondern macht auch deutlich, dass die IDS Scheer AG eine erste Adresse für die Ausbildung von akademischem Nachwuchs ist,“ erläutert Personalchefin Rosemarie Clarner. „Wir unterstützen Katja gerne bei ihrem MBA Studium und hoffen, dass sie danach wieder den Weg zurück in unser Unternehmen findet!“
