Suntech Power Holdings Co., Ltd., the world's largest manufacturer of photovoltaic modules and high-performance solar modules is counting on Software AG's ARIS Platform to optimize business processes. It goes beyond internal control processes to encompass the improvement of all processes along the value chain across company boundaries.

"Suntech has gained a market leading reputation based on the reliable long term performance of its solar modules," said Jerry Stokes, CEO of Suntech Europe, based in Schaffhausen, Switzerland. "In an increasingly competitive market next to product differentiation best in class customer service will contribute to higher customer satisfaction. Timely local support and delivery reliability requires constant adaptation of IT, business processes, and the organization. Investments in business process management and state-of-the-art software, such as the ARIS Platform, are therefore a critical success factor."

Bert van Kampen, CFO Europe at Suntech is already seeing results from the successful implementation of the solution: reduced risks and lower costs for internal control processes. "Thanks to ARIS Risk & Compliance Manager, our auditors and I can check the current status in real time whenever we like. Compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act can now be proven in seconds. That generates an atmosphere of great trust. We have also benefitted from the sound ARIS methodology, which allowed us to implement the complex project quickly," said van Kampen.

Suntech is currently investing in optimizing its supply chain processes. In addition to making extensive changes to the ERP system, the company decided to use ARIS Process Performance Manager for the order-to-cash process. "We hope to achieve high transparency that allows us to act quickly and proactively. "Savings of several days in the delivery process appear possible," explains Bert van Kampen. Ultimately, our customers benefit from accelerated processes and reduced costs in the supply chain. Our goal is to make solar energy accessible around the world as a clean and financially attractive energy source. Thanks to investments of market leaders like us have made in research and development, mass production, and improving all processes, grid parity for solar power can be achieved in half of all world markets by 2015."

Software AG has developed various modules for the ARIS product family, such as ARIS Business Architect, ARIS Publisher, and ARIS Risk & Compliance Manager. In recent days, cooperation with Software AG has been extended and a contract for the use of ARIS PPM has been signed. "We are pleased to partner with one of the world's largest manufacturers of solar modules," said Oliver Erb, Managing Director of Software AG Switzerland. "Especially now, it is essential to promote this industry and implement the best technology so that solar energy can be used worldwide very efficiently and inexpensively."
