Traditional production of individual dental restorations for patients is time- and cost-intensive, with a high risk of inaccuracies. This frequently leads to multiple dentist appointments, where dental restorations must be adjusted again and again. Modern technology has an answer. As a result of the research project COMMANDD, a new digital management system integrates all major players, systems, and data of the digital process chain in dental treatment. It provides data storage and workflow management capabilities, automatically saving time and money. Individualized, high-quality dental restorations can be milled on site in dentists' offices.
The research project took place at TU Darmstadt, under the leadership of DATRON AG. The core capabilities of the system on display at CeBIT 2016 are provided by Software AG's webMethods technology, which guarantees flexibility, expandability, and scalability through a cloud interface.
The digital management system will be on display at the Software AG booth (Hall 4, C11), along with a DATRON desktop dental milling machine that can produce individual examples on demand.
