- OSGi chartered with assuring interoperability of applications and services based on integration platforms
- Software AG Deputy CTO Prasad Yendluri to serve full term for the first time in the company history
Software AG, a global leader in business infrastructure software, today announced that the company has been elected to serve on the Board of Directors of the OSGi(TM) Alliance. The OSGi Alliance is a worldwide consortium of technology innovators that advances a proven and mature process to assure interoperability of applications and services based on its component integration platform. Software AG's Deputy CTO Prasad Yendluri will serve as the company's representative on the OSGi board for the full term. It is the first time that Software AG is joining the board.
The board sets the direction for the organization and oversees all activities of the consortium, approves all standards and supportive material published by OSGi. "I'm happy that we have both returning and new members who will make important contributions to the success of both OSGi technologies and the alliance," said Stan Moyer, President of the OSGi Alliance, of Telcordia Technologies. "We have a lot to accomplish in 2009, and the combination of experience and fresh perspectives on our organization will help us to achieve our goals. In addition to the OSGi, Software AG is an active participant in a number of other leading standards bodies, including the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), OMG, the WS-I and OASIS. The company and its affiliates have aided the development and advancement of such important Web services standards as SOAP 1.2, WS-BPEL 2.0, XML Schema, WSDL 2.0, UDDI, WS-Addressing, WS-Transaction, WS-Notification and WS-RX.
OSGi's board of directors is comprised of representatives from 11 companies, including IBM, Motorola, NTT, Oracle, SAP AG, ProSyst Software GmbH, Deutsche Telekom AG, and Progress Software.
About Prasad Yendluri
As a Vice President and Deputy CTO for Software AG, Prasad Yendluri is responsible for industry standards involvement, oversight and adoption, and related product strategy. Previously, he served as the Principal Architect for webMethods' Office of the CTO and within the company's platform architecture and product strategy group.
Mr. Yendluri had been actively involved in a number standards bodies, including W3C, OASIS,WS-I, OMG, Eclipse Foundation, SOA Consortium and JCP, both as administrative member contact as well as active member and editor of several SOA works including the WS-Policy, WS-Addressing, WSDL 2.0, WS-BPEL 2.0, WS-I Basic Profiles, SCA and expert member of several JAX-* JSRs. Mr. Yendluri had been serving on the WS-I board for the past 5 years, reelected to the WS-I board 3 times.
Mr. Yendluri is the co-author of several specifications, including WS-MetadataExchange and WS-Discovery, and he has published numerous technical articles in several Web services journals. He is a significant contributor to UDDI and ebXML messaging service specifications and a lead architect and co-author of the RosettaNet Implementation Frameworks 1.1 and 2.0 specifications.
Prior to joining Software AG, Mr. Yendluri worked for companies such as Netscape, AOL, Siemens ROLM, Unisys, Amdahl, and Vitria in various senior positions in software development and architecture. Mr. Yendluri holds a Master degree in Computer Science from the University of Louisiana and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Madras Institute of Technology.
