SLM Solutions to showcase latest technology and wide-ranging expertise at Rapid.Tech 2017

Lübeck, (PresseBox) - SLM Solutions Group AG will demonstrate the potential of additive manufacturing at the Rapid.Tech 2017 congress and convention in Erfurt. From June 20 to 22, 2017, the company will showcase the latest trends and technology at the convention, and present a case study during the congress.

Over the last thirteen years, Rapid.Tech has become one of the world's leading events in the additive manufacturing (AM) and 3D printing industries. Delegates keep coming back for the unique combination of convention and top-class congress with user conference for new technologies. Rapid.Tech offers an outstanding platform to both sector newcomers and experts to exchange knowledge on scientific and application-related aspects of the technology.
Additive manufacturing has the potential to make production faster, more resource efficient and more customizable. This is fueling the rapid development of new materials, machinery, processes and IT solutions. Lübeck-based SLM Solutions Group AG, one of the leading providers of metal-based additive manufacturing technologies, will present its new SLM 280 2.0 with two 700-W lasers at stand 928 in hall 2. This machine covers the entire selective laser melting process (SLM). The SLM 280 2.0 is designed as an “all-purpose system” for use in both R+D divisions and in production processes for highly complex components.

SLM Solutions will also present a case study at the Aviation Forum. David Wilckens, Head of Business Development Aerospace Industries at SLM Solutions, will speak on June 22 on the topic: "Adoption of Selective Laser Melting in Aviation & Space." Here he will speak about current trends and provide an insight into how SLM manufacturing technology is used to produce components.

Businesses are becoming increasingly aware of the opportunities that additive manufacturing offers. The global AM market has seen annual growth rates of 20 to 30 percent since 2010. According to a study by international management consultancy firm Bain & Company, this trend will accelerate in the years to come. Stefan Ritt, VP Head of Global Marketing and Communications, explains: "Our aim is to research and develop efficient and high-quality machinery for producing prototypes, small series and individual series products, offering customers excellent productivity while ensuring flexibility. Rapid.Tech is responding to this trend, creating the 3D Metal Printing Forum to provide a platform for discussion. We are looking forward to some interesting discussions with visitors."
