Unter der Marke "sipgate" bietet die indigo networks GmbH, Düsseldorf, seit Januar 2004 als erstes deutsches Unternehmen netzunabhängige Internet-Telefonie für Privat- und Businesskunden an. sipgate.de erlaubt kostenlose Telefonate über das Internet (Voice-over-IP, VoIP) und steht Nutzern kostenfrei zur Verfügung (keine Anschluss-gebühr, keine Grundgebühr, keinen Mindestumsatz). Durch Zusammenschaltungen mit insgesamt elf nationalen und internationalen Partnern können sipgate-Kunden mit mehr als einer Millionen VoIP-Nutzern weltweit kostenlos telefonieren (u.a. freenet.de). Anrufe aus den klassischen Telefonnetzen (Festnetz, Mobilfunk) können an jedem sipgate-Anschluss entgegengenommen werden. Dazu stattet sipgate jeden Kunden mit einer Rufnummer aus – inklusive der geografischen Vorwahl (1.900 deutsche Ortsnetze). Voraussetzung für Internettelefonie mit sipgate.de sind ein Breitband-Internetanschluss und ein SIP-Telefon oder ein analoger Telefon-Adapter (ATA), der herkömmliche analoge Telefone zum Internettelefon macht. sipgate ist ebenfalls in England und Österreich verfügbar .
