Sierra Wireless (NASDAQ: SWIR - TSX: SW) today announced that the AirLink(TM) HSUPA product line is now certified for use on the AT&T BroadbandConnect high-speed wireless network in the United States.
The AirLink Raven X, Pinpoint X, and MP 881W are the first HSUPA-enabled standalone rugged mobile and M2M devices available to take full advantage of the faster data speeds provided by AT&T's HSUPA network.
High-Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA) technology supports mobile broadband data speeds between 600 kilobits per second (kbps) and 1.2 megabits per second (Mbps) on the downlink and between 500 and 800 kbps on the uplink.
The increased speeds allow for greater flexibility and efficiency in customer applications, including those that require transmission of larger files, such as images, from the field to another location for assessment.

The AirLink MP 881W is an in-vehicle modem built to withstand the rugged environments of the public safety, transportation, and field service industries - it meets U.S. Military 810-F and Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) J1455 specifications for vibration, shock, drop, rain, splash, sand, dust, humidity, and salt fog. The MP 881W includes an 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi hotspot and robust routing capabilities to simplify installation and communication between the modems and peripheral equipment, and to allow customers access to their mobile broadband coverage from outside the vehicle.
The MP 881W includes MP Modem Manager, which allows customers to remotely manage their entire fleet of MP modems. MP Modem Manager enables device configuration, over-the-air firmware updates and diagnostics and troubleshooting.
All three devices come standard with a three-year platinum warranty.
