Bereits 2006 wurde die patentierte Acriche-Reihe auf dem Markt eingeführt und von der Zeitschrift Elektronik als "Produkt des Jahres“ ausgelobt. Sie ist weltweit das erste Halbleiterleuchtelement, das direkt und ohne Konverter an die 220/230V-Wechselstromversorgung angeschlossen werden kann.
„Die neue Acriche ist für 20 Milliampere (mA) Gleichstrom-Beleuchtungen mit 55 Volt designt worden, um den Schaltaufwand beim Einbau von Wechselstrom-Systemen so gering wie möglich zu halten“, so Manuel Zarauza, Managing Director Seoul Semiconductor Europe. „Deswegen eignet sie sich besonders gut für Solarenergie- und Batteriebetriebene Beleuchtungssysteme.“
SSC plant bis Ende des Jahres eine weitere Acriche mit bis zu 170 Lumen und 150lm/Watt auf den Markt zu bringen. Der LED-Hersteller reagiert so auf die steigende Nachfrage nach unterschiedlichen Anwendungsanforderungen bei Wechsel- und Gleichstrom-Beleuchtungssystemen. SSC hält 6.000 eigene Patente im Bereich der LED-Kerntechnologie und 300 Patente allein in der Acriche-Technolgie.
