The F02 - a reliable pressure sensor for agricultural technology

(PresseBox) (Kaufbeuren, )
Future trends are moving towards self-learning and autonomous systems. For this reason, the requirements placed on electronic components used are increasing regarding functional safety, because no human can correct electronics errors. In the past, Sensor-Technik Wiedemann (STW) recognized the significance of functional safety already at an early stage, and brought out an array of products onto the market, which are suitable for applications with increased functional safety. These include control units, such as the ESX-3XL, displays in the VSX family, or pressure transmitters such as the digiSENS-F02.

By 2016, the digiSENS-F02 had already been certified for applications with PL d according to ISO 13849 and SIL 2 according to IEC 61508. After a successful series start, the certification obtained for the digiSENS-F02 has been extended by the standard ISO 25119. This specific standard takes the particular requirements of tractors, agricultural and forestry machines and municipal vehicles into consideration. Therefore, the digiSENS-F02 now also addresses applications with AgPL d in the market of mobile machines, the core market of STW.

Besides ISO 13849, EN 61508 and ISO 25119, in future also ISO 26262 will become of great significance for the products produced by STW. The ISO 26262 from 2011 is limited to vehicles with up to 3.5t permissible total weight. The weight limitation is to be omitted in the next version of this standard. Therefore, the validity will also include applications such as undercarriages of mobile machines. Certification according to the new version of the standard is already planned, as is the introduction of a CANopen safety interface.
