Sensor-Technik Wiedemann: An experienced newcomer in the cylinder pressure sensor market

Kaufbeuren, (PresseBox) - As a leading manufacturer of sensors, control systems, telemetry platforms and drive elements and as a provider of cloud solutions for a wide range of engine-powered applications, STW has over 15 years’ involvement in the measurement of cylinder pressure on large diesel, gas and dual-fuel engines.

STW now plans to make its experience and expertise in the manufacture, packaging and application engineering of sensors for cylinder pressure more directly available to OEMs of large engines. Likewise, STW intends to explore new applications for its sensors and data management solutions in marine and stationary engine applications. To achieve this, STW is now addressing customers in these sectors in its own name as well as through partners.

In particular, STW is responding to the growing market for gas engines in marine propulsion and onboard power generation, including new 2-stroke types. In addition the uses of cylinder pressure data in modern control systems are becoming more complex. New applications will include more sophisticated knock-detection, cylinder output balancing and the calculation of NOx formation, as well as the need for more durable solutions as peak firing pressures rise.
