Next generation of the Battery Management System mBMS

(PresseBox) (Kaufbeuren, )
Electrification is gaining momentum, both in electric road vehicles and in electrically powered mobile machines. For prototyping and small series of such vehicles and machines, the German company STW offers the mBMS system kit. With the announcement of the mBMS.3, the electronics specialists are presenting the next generation of the product series.

STW's modular mBMS kit provides an ideal basis for initial samples and small series management systems for the safe operation of lithium-ion batteries up to 800 V. The modular kit supports various energy storage architectures, including single batteries and multi-battery systems of single batteries connected in parallel. With the mBMS configuration software, manufacturers of high-voltage battery systems can adapt the management system exactly to their requirements. STW also offers customer specific versions of the hardware and software components. In addition to the key mBMS components, a comprehensive range of compatible accessories is available, including contactors, load resistors, filter assemblies and connector sets.

With the mBMS.3, STW introduces an updated version of the proven system, which is even more powerful and user-friendly. Like the manufacturer's latest automation products, the mBMS.3 is based on the safety-certified Aurix multicore platform. In conjunction with the firmware, which has also been certified and optimized for functional safety applications, system architectures for safety-relevant applications can be implemented in accordance with ISO26262 (ASIL) particularly efficiently.

The new generation also features a very compact design and further reduces the necessary cabling. The connectors comply with automotive standards and the housing provides protection against accidental contact. Thanks to excellent obsolescence management, typical of STW, all mBMS components will be available for the long term, so that manufacturers are protected from unplanned discontinuations of individual parts.
