Without people to interact with the Internet of Things, it remains an empty shell for processes and doesn’t become a life-filled domain to link things and humans. The IoT can only develop its full potential through people’s handling of machines and things using natural language, because the acceptance that a new technology needs for a wide breakthrough only results from effortless cooperation.

In Hall 9, at booth E020a, SemVox and its partner Nuance Communications will show a prototypical application for a voice-operated online shop which was developed in cooperation with the agency kuehlhaus from Mannheim and the company Schiesser. The application supports and advises customers on the selection of products in the online shop and thus creates a better customer relationship as well as a more efficient conversion.
A Lego-Mindstorm robot is looking forward to playing a game with visitors to the SemVox booth and to guessing which animal the visitor is thinking of. SemVox will show how simply and playfully Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning can work with ODP S3.

About SemVox ODP and Nuance VoCon/Vocalizer

SemVox ODP S3, SemVox ODP InDia and the Nuance ASR and TTS Modules VoCon Hybrid and Vocalizer offer the perfect solution for any application of human-machine communication in the digitisation process. Based on ODP S3, interaction and assistance systems can be developed which not only receive and execute commands, but also think. The ontology-based dialog platform ODP S3 employs the fantastic possibilities of artificial intelligence to create intelligent assistants. They actually understand the context of a situation, and continuous processing at the level of meaning (semantics) ensures a natural, intuitive interaction. For the independent development of interaction systems based on ODP S3, a complete tool chain is available to our customers.

SemVox InDia is a lean and integrated embedded solution for anyone who already works with their own application logic (a task manager), whose usecases do not have extremely complex dialog situations and who do not have time to implement low-level ASR or TTS components. ODP InDia already includes Nuance VoCon and Vocalizer components and allows one to set up speaking operability and dialog within an existing application logic in just a few minutes. This saves time and effort while still taking advantage of the capabilities of ODP S3, which has been running productively for over ten years in countless applications.

The Nuance Voice Recogniser VoCon Hybrid and the speech synthesis Nuance Vocalizer Embedded are state-of-the-art components for all applications ranging from toy robots and household appliances to announcement systems and learning programs, all the way to industrial controls. VoCon Hybrid 4.11 comprises the combination of a software development kit (SDK) for both embedded and connected speech recognition applications. Nuance VoCon Hybrid stands for multilingual language comprehension and supports over 30 different target languages. The speech recogniser provides previously unrivalled accuracy and performance for a variety of applications that use voice control. Vocalizer Embedded is an embedded text-to-speech solution that allows you to create truly natural speech output for your applications. Nuance Vocalizer Embedded transforms text to speech with the utmost precision and achieves optimal results when processing long spoken texts. 53 languages are supported from Arabic to Valencian, as well as 111 voices.
