Seagate knackt 1,5 Milliarden-Marke bei Auslieferung von Festplatten

Festplattenmarkt im Wachstumsrausch: Der Bedarf an hoher Speicherkapazität ist ungebrochen. Dies bestätigt auch die steil anwachsende Nachfrage nach Festplatten, die der weltweit führende Festplattenhersteller Seagate verzeichnet: Im Oktober 2010 hatte das Unternehmen seine 1,5 milliardenste Festplatte ausgeliefert. Erst vor zweieinhalb Jahren, 29 Jahre nach Firmengründung, erreichte Seagate die erste Milliarden-Marke. Das Unternehmen rechnet damit, innerhalb der nächsten zwei Jahre rund 2 Milliarden Festplatten ausgeliefert zu haben. Das bedeutet: Was zuvor 29 Jahre dauerte, wird nun lediglich fünf Jahre Zeit in Anspruch nehmen.
