For the comprehensive inventory of software and hardware, LOGINventory can record up to 500 individual details for every asset. The scanning process is very fast, due to low data volumes. This is particularly beneficial for businesses with low WAN bandwidth between dispersed sites.
Reliable data on actual software use and user anonymity
LOGINventory6 identifies the last known start-time of an application. However, standard Windows statistic tools - which it uses - can provide incomplete data, as only applications started from Start menu, desktop or Windows Explorer are normally considered. The new optional LOGINuse module uses its own agent to get around this problem. It collects usage statistics on all applications from all PC users and even terminal servers. As long as LOGINuse data is available, inconclusive data collected from the Windows stats will be ignored for that system.
LOGINuse data can also be incorporated into LOGINventory license management. A comparison of installed software packages with actually used licenses may reveal great potential for cost savings: which applications are used, which ones are still needed, what maintenance costs can be saved? By identifying applications which are rarely or no longer in use, companies can optimize their IT budget spend where it has the greatest return on investment. By default, LOGINventory6 also anonymizes interactive user accounts to protect privacy.
Optimized scan job management and improved asset discovery
The integration with the Active Directory (AD) enables the administrator to define a scan range based on AD structures. All entered changes in the AD - for instance new subnets, sites or Organizational Units - will automatically be applied in the LOGINventory scan module. This extensive scan range administration makes any parallel scan management superfluous.
MS Exchange report and mobile device inventory
Parallel to detecting the entire MS Exchange configuration with its editions, roles, and database details, LOGINventory now even recognizes data from mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. The inventory of mobile devices is based on the registered data in the MS Exchange Server. For companies using a 'Bring your own Device' approach, this gives system administrators a clear overview of their networks.
Fingerprint
For unambiguous identification and classification of devices, LOGINventory6 uses a new 'fingerprint' method to avoid creating duplicate database entries when a computer has been renamed or mainboard / network interface cards have been replaced.
Prices and availability
The starting price is EUR 6 per license, reducing with the increasing number of assets covered. Version upgrades cost 60 % of the purchase price and include 12 months Software Upgrade Subscription - LOGINventory ( SUSL ). Users with valid SUSL will receive the LOGINventory6 license from LOGIN. Updates within the main version 6.x and the 20-asset version are available free-of-charge in the download area of the LOGIN Web site. The full LOGINventory6 program package is immediately available for download at www.loginventory.com/download.
