With a project time period of just under fourteen months and an immensely short installation and startup phase, Schmid once again proficiently demonstrated its knowhow and competence in the module sector. Stefan Huber, project manager at Schmid Technology Systems GmbH, highly commended the excellent cooperation between the two participating companies, Sillia and Schmid, which he says made it possible for Sillia énergie to manufacture the first solar modules a mere four weeks after installation began, consequently launching production much earlier than planned.
During the grand opening ceremony at the Sillia production plant in mid-October, Wolfgang Müller, sales manager for turnkey module lines with Schmid, extended his congratulations on behalf of the entire Schmid executive management in French, which earned him a hearty embrace from Bruno Cassin. Cassin, managing director of the Elvia Group, praised the successful cooperation with Schmid and thanked the entire team, in particular project manager Stefan Huber and site manager Torsten Ilchmann, for the excellent work performed. Speaking to the French press, Cassin again emphasised his hopes in photovoltaic as the true future technology in energy production and also expressed his confidence in the French PV market as a solid basis.
Sillia énergie, with its workforce of 51 highly qualified employees, now produces certified solar modules of the highest quality on the most modern PV production site in France, predominantly for the French market. Today already, the course has been set for a successful future. Sillia plans to expand the module line to 40 MW, a measure that can be completed in the short term and without interrupting production. It is expected that this decision will be taken before the end of 2009.
In view of the successful completion of the project at Sillia, Schmid anticipates a strong demand in the Frenchspeaking regions.
