(PresseBox) (Freudenstadt, )
On 20th December 2010 the Schmid Group took over the majority holding of the newly founded Swiss company montratec AG. According to Swiss law, the base of the incorporated company is Derendingen with further distribution locations in Germany and Italy. With this new venture Schmid is able to expand its market position in the sector of automation and intralogistic systems. Out of the 2200 employees engaged worldwide, over 800 are located in Germany, Taiwan, China and now Switzerland in the automation branch alone. Montratec's specific product pallet and expertise are an ideal supplement to Schmid's product portfolio in the printed circuit board and photovoltaic branches, opening new markets in the respective sectors of the optical, medical and automobile industries.

With the founding of the new company montratec AG, the business sector Montrac has been spun off Montech AG. Now Montech focuses more on its existing markets and customer segments and expands its product portfolio regarding conveyor belts, automation components and the Quick-Set profile system. Therefore the Swiss specialist for conveyor belts can be more responsive to specific customer requirements. For Montech customers of these products there will be no impacts.

Montrac is an intelligent transport system for networking industrial production and logistic processes and symbolizes absolute flexibility in conveyor technology. With this single-rail system customer-specific plants or company-internal departments can be networked in a simple way i.e. with standard components. Contrary to classical conveyor systems, the drives are accommodated in the shuttle and not in the route. Since its introduction to the market in 1996 ca. 1,300 systems have been installed worldwide.

montratec AG specializes in the manufacture, development and marketing of automated transport systems and solutions. In addition to this the services offered include the consulting and engineering of customized projects from individual components as catalogue items through to complete turnkey solutions including flexible control concepts. Installation and after-sales service is organized locally worldwide through the Schmid Group service stations. In future montratec AG will operate as an independent company mainly in the automotive, optical, electronic, medical, photovoltaic and printed circuit board sectors.
