bauma 2010 is the world-leading trade show for construction machinery and equipment. It will take place in Munich, Germany from April 19th until April 25th.
RUTHMANN will use this special event to introduce its brand new STEIGER® TB 270.
The well-known German company manufactures state-of-the-art, professional truck-mounted aerial platforms. At bauma 2010, RUTHMANN will be showcasing several versions of this new model at stand # 1006/4 in the outside area. Trade show visitors from all over the world will have plenty of opportunity to enjoy a thrilling ride up to the 27-metre working height level.
After its great success with the popular TB 220 (over 500 models sold), RUTHMANN is now proud to present the very best in the 3.5 ton GVW* (and up) truck-mounted aerial platform category. The 27-metre working height and 14.8-metre outreach have greatly improved the performance data.

This quantum leap forward can be attributed to innovative and professional material, German engineering and workmanship. Coupled with RUTHMANN’s experience, exceptional quality and perseverance, the company is poised to respond well to market needs and remain a step ahead of the competition.
With the new STEIGER® TB 270, RUTHMANN is showing once again that it is entirely possible to make improvements to products that are already extremely good. The sales promotion concept of the TB 270 is called “A+.” Aside from the above mentioned A+ performance data, the new STEIGER® model offers many other innovations. Only the very best A+ material is used. The boom system on the TB 270, for example, is made of fine-grained steel, unlike those of other manufacturers who use softer and lighter-weight aluminium. The A+ boom is meticulously welded. There is only one seam running along the middle of the upper telescoping boom. The A+ turret called “truss tower” features a completely new and innovative “space-frame design.” It is extremely light yet solid, rigid yet warp-resistant. The A+ working cage is also new. The swivelling angle of 2 times 90° is far superior to that of its predecessor. The working cage also comes with a door which is accessible using the convenient steps on the chassis. In addition, RUTHMANN has increased the maximum carrying capacity of the working cage by 30kg. It can now carry a load of up to 230kg instead of the usual 200kg. The hydrostatic cage adjustments are far superior to electric adjustments used by other manufacturers. Furthermore, the wide choice of base vehicles that can be used is also quite remarkable. The TB 270, for example, can either be mounted onto a 3.5-ton Sprinter, Cabstar and Maxicity chassis as well as base vehicles with an even greater gross vehicle weight (GVW) such as 4-wheel drive or off-road varieties. Even with 2 people in the cab, the GVW limit is never exceeded on any base vehicle equipped with the standard fuel tank.
Finally, the TB 270 comes with the famous, time-tested horizontal/vertical jacking mechanism. It features the same versatile jacking functions/possibilities found on previous models.
The proven RUTHMANN control-system technology, which has just received the internationally-recognized IEC 61508/SIL 2 and SIL 3 safety certification, assures trouble-free handling and provides many different diagnostic possibilities. Production data acquisition (PDA) can also be connected and monitored.
In August 2009, RUTHMANN gave visitors a sneak preview of the new 4th-generation TB series line-up at the Platformers Days trade show in Hohenroda, Germany. By the end of 2009 a total of fifty STEIGER® TB 270 models had been ordered. This amazing statistic illustrates what kind of demand there is for these types of truck-mounted aerial platforms and the degree of confidence that customers have in RUTHMANN products.
The TB 270 model is only the first of a series of models which will be introduced as part of the new STEIGER® TB models of the 4th generation. Three additional TB STEIGER® models, available on a variety of base vehicles (3.5 ton and up), will soon be making their debut. The STEIGER® TBR 200 will feature a totally new, lightweight telescoping boom system with a movable (RÜSSEL®) jib. With the working height of over 20 metres and a swivelling jib, objects can be reached safely, with great agility and accuracy.
The TBR 200 is also very unique in that it is possible for a large box to be mounted onto the loading platform. This is next to impossible with regular telescoping machinery. The features of the TB 270 have been integrated into two additional models. The new TB 230 has a working height of 23 metres while the new TB 190 features a 19-metre working height.
For more information about the models in the new STEIGER® series, RUTHMANN invites its customers and interested parties to attend the daily presentations that will take place at bauma 2010 in Munich, Germany this spring.
