In a comprehensive study among 2600 family businesses, the F.A.Z – Institute analysed the competence fields of product and service, innovation, sustainability, profitability, management performance and performance as an employer.

Family businesses are the backbone and support pillar of the German economy. Against this background, the F.A.Z – Institute study performed the analysis on the basis of two different sources.
The so-called Social Listening method evaluates all texts with relevant search terms involving the companies in question. The source for this data was the Internet. The data was fragmented and analysed using the artificial intelligence method. In addition, selected data from the DDW Ranking, the master database of the German economy, was included.
