Koen Sevriens, Quality and Safety Manager at Roberts Europe, accepted the "Lean and Green Award" from Mr Hugo Bouwer (Energy Transition Director of the Ministry of Economic Affairs). "For years now we have aspired to make our processes more efficient in order to optimise the cargo space of the vehicles. We are very proud with this award. It rewards our effort and stimulates us to invest more in sustainable logistics processes," a satisfied Sevriens says. From today, Roberts Europe may officially use the logo of the "Lean and Green Award".
In 2008 Roberts Europe invested in new computer and communication systems which have allowed the company to optimise its Premium Freight transports in the whole of Europe. Using a sustainability index and measurement methodology, the CO2 emission can be calculated. Roberts Europe's objective is to increase the efficiency of the operational and transport processes by 4% a year and thus reduce the CO2 emission by 4% a year.
The "Sustainable logistics" innovation programme is an initiative of the Ministry of Transport and Public Works in co-operation with several partners in the economics, environment and logistics sectors with the aim of stimulating developing companies to a higher sustainability level. The research and the guidance in the selection procedure and the preparation for this Sustainable Logistics Award were provided by Connekt in Delft.
