MediorNet at the Michael Jackson Memorial

(PresseBox) (Los Angeles, USA, )
It was a sad occasion for the first major use of L.A. Live's recently purchased MediorNet installation. The Michael Jackson Memorial was held in the Staples Center, which is part of the L.A. Live complex in Los Angeles. MediorNet was responsible for the real-time distribution and routing of all HD video signals for the worldwide broadcast of the Michael Jackson Memorial. MediorNet distributed the signals within the arena, as well as to the video walls and to the various broadcasting trucks outside.

A total of eight MediorNet frames are installed at the L.A. Live complex. Together they integrate signal transport, routing, signal processing and conversion into one integrated real-time network for uncompressed multi-channel HD/SD video, audio, intercom and data. The MediorNet solution combines up to 153 GBit/s on a single fiber link with each mainframe providing routing capacity for 32x32 720p/1080i signals, 160x160 SD-SDI signals, 27,000x27,000 AES signals or any combination of thereof. Besides the MediorNet system, a comprehensive Artist intercom installation took care of the communications infrastructure for the event.

"At the NAB '09 we were excited about the promise of MediorNet. After our first use of the product we were very pleased with the experience. We're really glad that we chose Riedel's MediorNet for the signal distribution backbone throughout our production complex. With such highly emotional events such as the Michael Jackson Memorial, it is important that we have technology that we can always rely on. The flexibility of MediorNet allows us to smoothly adapt to the needs of events like these," said Dennis Kornegay from L.A. Live.
