The Production and Rental Company MSI, specializing in live event production, installed two MediorNet mainframes connected via fiber to distribute media feeds for the San Diego International Comic Con. RockNet client cards for MediorNet provided the connection for RockNet line in and out modules, integrating the audio distribution over the fiber based MediorNet system. The equipment provided the broadcast feeds for the US broadcast of the convention that took place at the San Diego Convention Center.
Ken Freeman from MSI noted. "Working with the Riedel MediorNet system made the setup and operation of the press and media distribution far simpler for both the technicians and press to use. Comic Con is an event where the eyes of the world are upon us and nothing less than perfect is acceptable. We found the system easy to configure and robust. What we put it is exactly what we got out, 500 meters away." Freeman also took advantage of the Mediornet's ability to embed audio into the SDI video streams to create the high quality press feeds that fans saw around the world.
MediorNet is a universal solution for the routing and distribution of HD/SD video, intercom, audio and data over fiber cabling. It allows any form of topology and provides transport capacities of up to 32x32 720p/1080i signals, 160x160 SD-SDI signals, 27,000x27,000 AES signals or any combination thereof. MediorNet features software based broadcast quality processing and conversion on board such as Embedding/De-Embedding and Frame Store/Synchronizer. Ultimately these features will eliminate the need for external hardware devices.
