Richard Wolf and MEIERHOFER today announced a far-reaching partnership in Operating Room Integration. This cooperation will provide clinical users with the expert system for endoscopy. The system optimally integrates the workflow for an intervention through the preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative phases.

The two companies have large market shares in their individual specialist areas. MEIERHOFER is the leading provider of clinical information systems in German-speaking Europe. These systems provide support for the complete treatment process from the outpatient department, through the operating room and the service facilities, to the accounts department. Richard Wolf is one of the leading global providers of endoscopic products and offers the most innovative integrated solutions within the sector for minimally invasive interventions in key surgical disciplines.

A modern operating theater is a high-tech environment which plays a key role in clinical treatment. Making use of the full potential of the operating-room process requires seamless data exchange in different hospital systems such as operating-room planning, systems for patient information and image archiving.

Today's press release presents the integration of the MCC.OP Module from MEIERHOFER and the core nova integration solution from Richard Wolf. MCC.OP is an operating-room management system which offers optimum support from planning to documentation. Richard Wolf's core nova is the central intraoperative system for controlling medical devices, media management, and image and video documentation. The newly created expert system for endoscopy facilitates a significant improvement in the clinical workflow, cost-effectiveness and patient security because all the relevant information is available immediately in all phases before, during and after the intervention. All planning data are available during the operation, and performance and progress of the intervention can be captured during the operation in real time. Generation of operating reports and evaluations after the intervention is facilitated by automated output.

Matthias Meierhofer, Chief Executive Officer and company founder of MEIERHOFER AG: "Our IT solutions are well-known in practical applications for their functional depth and their excellent integration capability. We are moving the strategy of holistic process optimization forward with this Integrated Operating Room project: continuous information flow through seamlessly networked IT structures. This enables us to achieve optimized equipment planning for endoscopy and ideal availability of relevant data while also ensuring convenient use at the same time."

"The in-depth meshing of Richard Wolf's integration system and the MCC.OP Module from MEIERHOFER enables us to offer a comprehensive solution for endoscopy. This brings about a significant improvement in the clinical workflow of our customers and strengthens the position of both companies in the international arena," said Jürgen Steinbeck, Managing Director at Richard Wolf.
