Obermark hatte zuvor beruflich Karriere in verschiedenen Funktionen beim Französischen Elektronikkonzern THALES gemacht; zuletzt stand er seit Mitte 2011 als CEO und Vorsitzender der Geschäftsführung an der Spitze der Deutschen Konzernunternehmen und besetzte verschiedene Aufsichtsratposten in deren Deutschen Joint Ventures wie der zur Diehl Gruppe gehörenden Diehl Aerospace GmbH.
