Croatian Game Developers Association joins European Games Developer Federation

EGDF to provide better international networking and promotion for thriving Croatian game development industry

(PresseBox) (Zagreb, )
The European Games Developer Federation (EGDF) announced today the acceptance of the Croatian Game Developers Association (CGDA) into the federation. The CGDA was founded in 2014 with the main goal to support the growing games development industry locally and represents more than 40 developer studios from Croatia. Joining the EGDF will not only greatly increase activities in the areas of representation and networking, but also give Croatian developers a better chance of collaboration with international institutions and a voice in Brussels.

EGDF president Hendrik Lesser comments: "Our goal is a sustainably growing, diverse and renowned European games industry. The addition of Croatia as a member is an important first step for the inclusion of the dynamic and well-respected Central and Eastern Europe games region into our Federation. Proper representation of these regions is a core goal and objective for the EGDF and dear to the heart to me personally, especially in today’s turbulent political climate in Europe. We're certain that Croatia will serve both as a prime example and a trusted partner in this process, enticing more countries from the region to join the EGDF. Welcome to the next level of Europe, Croatia!”

"Game development has been hugely successful in Croatia and is one of the fastest growing sectors, exporting 99.9% of its games" said Ante Vrdelja, Secretary General of CGDA. "While most of Croatian games are recognized internationally, critically and commercially, we'll also need to be recognized by the domestic and EU policy-makers to be able to maintain that level of success. Joining the EGDF will give Croatian game developers that voice in Brussels, and will also help them to be heard loud and clear in our own country."

About EGDF
The European Games Developer Federation is committed to the stimulation and development of a stable, vibrant and creative European games development sector that is competitive globally and recognized culturally.
The EGDF will act to advance the political and economic interests of the European computer and video games industry by providing a platform for collaboration and discussion between European institutions and game developers.
The federation represents more than 1,500 studios based in Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Norway, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom, which together employ about 25,000 people. The European computer and video games industry, including distributors and students in game educations, encompasses almost 100,000 individuals.

About CGDA
The Croatian Game Developers Association was founded by leading Croatian game development studios to provide a central point for regional and worldwide networking. While international promotion remains the primary mission of the CGDA, the association also seeks domestic support for game development as a viable business model and provides a platform for dialogue between game developers, media, educational institutions, creative and cultural sectors, as well as IT sectors.

The CGDA membership is also open to third party companies interested in game development and is proud to be associated with Reboot, the organizers of Reboot InfoGamer, the biggest regional trade show (www.rebootinfogamer.hr), and Reboot Develop, a premium game development conference set in the beautiful city of Dubrovnik (rebootdevelop.hr).
