The 2nd AEBIOM European Bioenergy Conference & RENEXPO® BIOENERGY EUROPE EXHIBITION took place on June 29th & 30th, 2011 in the Albert Hall in Brussels. After the huge success of last year's premiere event, the international conference and accompanying trade fair could solidify its position as a key event for the European bioenergy market which brings together economic, political and R&D experts to a common meeting point.

"I am very happy that the event was able to follow up on last year's success and establish itself as a central platform for the European bioenergy sector," said project manager Avena Gall-Tamas from REECO Belgium sprl. "Bioenergy shows the greatest potential among the renewable energies. The main message that was conveyed on both days of the event was that this sector is incredibly important, functional and very versatile."

The conference presented by the European Biomass Association (AEBIOM) brought together more than 300 participants in four conference blocks and parallel workshops to discuss current developments, innovations and technologies in the bioenergy sector. Speakers at the conference included members of the European Parliament and the European Commission, such as Lena Ek, European Parliament, Committee on Industry, Research and Energy as well as Hans van Steen, Head of Unit, Committee on Industry, Research and Energy, European Commission, showing the quality of the event and its importance for European policy makers.

Speakers at the grand opening ceremony of the exhibition on Wednesday, June 29th, 2011 included the president of AEBIOM Gustav Melin and the event's project manager Avena Gall-Tamas. Hungary's Secretary of State Peter Olajos was also among the renown speakers. He outlined the key priorities of the outgoing Hungarian EU presidency and summarized the accomplishments made in the area of renewable energies. The RENEXPO® BIOENERGY EUROPE EXHIBITION 2011 served as part of the official conclusion of the Hungarian EU Presidency.

Project manager Avena Gall-Tamas emphasized, "The high quality of the event and the combination of conference, workshop and exhibition makes the ABIOM European Bioenergy Conference & RENEXPO® BIOENERGY unique in Europe." The conference and exhibition has quickly become one of the most important dates in the Brussels conference calender.
