Prosilica GC2450: Ultra-compact 5 Megapixel CCD camera with GigE Interface

Uniquely Small and Powerful CCD Camera

(PresseBox) (München, )
Responding to demand for higher resolution cameras at affordable prices, Prosilica has released the new GC2450 gigabit Ethernet camera. The ultra-compact Prosilica GC2450 runs 15 frames per second at 2456 x 2048 resolution over a GigE Vision-compliant gigabit Ethernet interface. The camera housing measures only 33 x 46 x 43 mm making the GC2450 the smallest camera of its type.

The Prosilica GC2450 uses Sony’s new 5-megapixel ICX-625 progressive scan CCD sensor with global electronic shutter suitable for capturing high-speed motion events. Key features include programmable exposure controls, area-of-interest readout (AOI), advanced binning modes, 12-bit readout, asynchronous external trigger and sync I/O, auto-iris control, and RS-232 peripheral port. The Prosilica GC2450 does not require a frame grabber because it connects directly to the Gigabit Ethernet port on the host computer.

Applications for the Prosilica GC2450 include electronics inspection, cell phone LCD inspection, glass bottle inspection, 3-D measurement, food processing, aerial imaging, and general machine vision. It is also suited to traffic and specialized security applications because of its high-resolution, long cable length and special I/O features. The RS-232 port could be used to control a pan-zoom-tilt unit; and the auto-iris capability covers the wide range of outdoor lighting conditions.

No matter how you look at it—size, speed, resolution, image quality, ease of use, reliability, or price - the Prosilica GC2450 is an outstanding camera. The GC2450, with its GigE Vision-compliant gigabit Ethernet interface, further establishes Prosilica as the technology leader.

Prosilica’s GigE Vision interface provides unprecedented ease of installation and use, even for multi-camera installations. To facilitate integration, Prosilica provides a free software development kit (SDK) for use on Windows 2000, XP, Vista, Linux, and QNX operating systems with support for both Intel- and Power PC-based platforms. Prosilica’s GigE Vision cameras are also plug-and-play compatible with industry-leading imaging software from Matrox, National Instruments, and others.
Prosilica is a leading manufacturer of digital cameras for the industrial and machine vision markets.
