Until today a lot of mainboards with USB 3.0, the new fast standard for peripheral data transfer, has become available. Also manufacturers of PCs and laptops are offering more and more devices with this standard. Around Christmas and from Christmas on there will be a lot of thinking about USB 3.0.
The new USB 3.0 hub IB-AC610 has a USB 3.0 Micro B interface to the host and four interfaces (type A) to peri-pherals. The 5 V power supply is included. The casing is made of brushed aluminium, colour anthracite, solid, and looking valuable.
The new ICY BOX IB-230StU3-G is made of the same material and comes in in a fitting design. This external enclosure is for a 2.5" SATA HDD. Under the hard shell, the soft core is hidden. That means there are rubber bumpers to protect the HDD from impact and vibration.
The ICY BOX IB-223StU3+Wh/B is different. Here the elastic protection is a silicon frame on the outer shell. This enclosure for a 2.5" SATA HDD comes in black or white. Accordingly the product name either ends with "Wh" or "B".
ICY BOX card-readers with multi-port front panel providing also USB 3.0 ports will be available this year too.
