RFS and InfoGLOBAL team up to offer a new solution for 5-6GHz in-tunnel wireless communication systems

(PresseBox) (Hannover, )
Radio Frequency Systems (RFS), the global wireless and broadcast infrastructure specialist, and InfoGLOBAL, worldwide leader of advanced telecommunications, control, video surveillance and security systems, introduce a world-wide unique solution for in-tunnel broadband wireless communication systems in the 5 to 6 GHz frequency band.

RFS and InfoGLOBAL have bundled their technological leadership and outstanding experiences in active and passive RF system concepts for wireless communication solutions that simplify deployments, optimize costs and meet the challenges of the most complex indoor environments. Transportation operators in the rail and metro sectors will realize particular benefits from the combined offering which sets new technological and commercial standards for wireless communications networks to transport mission-critical data, video and voice communications as well as to support crucial applications.

The innovative solution is based on the disruptive and worldwide unique RADIAFLEX® RE60 radiating waveguide which is the leading edge solution for in-tunnel wireless applications in the 5-6 GHz band and TEBATREN® broadband telecommunication system for trains. The innovative approach allows for superior system performance ensuring lowest insertion loss and excellent coupling loss which is equivalent to today's state-of-the-art RFS RADIAFLEX® Radiating cable solutions for the 2.4-2.5GHz ISM band as well as for other supported licensed bands (700 /1700 MHz).

The solution is ideally suited for real-time applications with highest data rate demands as the 5-6 GHz ISM band providing a multiple higher useful RF bandwidth than what is available in the currently used 2.4-2.5GHz ISM band. System design as well as capacity planning of an interference-free and stable IEEE 802.11a wireless communication system becomes a straightforward task simultaneously allowing for future-proof system concepts with respect to capacity upgrades, including IEEE 802.11n support.

The RADIAFLEX® Radiating waveguide provides with TEBATREN® the best fit ‘RF coverage contouring’ product ensuring lowest signal variations and homogenous coverage setting new standards for on-board applications as IG-Monitor® video surveillance system, IG-Spot® passenger information system, IG-Voice® public address/intercom system and public WiFi as well as reliably track to train communication in tunnel environments.

“RFS’ innovative product concepts and long-term experience in the field of in-tunnel communications confirms why we are a trustful partner for wireless systems in the transportation industry. The new RADIAFLEX® Radiating waveguide underlines our leadership in this market segment by simultaneously setting new technological standards”, says Peter Raabe, Global Product Line Director for Wireless Indoor solutions. “This holistic approach is valuable for our customers as an end-to-end solution that is optimized from technology, commercial and cost (capital and operating) perspectives”, Raabe adds.
