Die DaVinci-Technologie von TI ist die erste Plattform, die digitale Audio-, Video- und Multimediainnovationen ohne besondere Codec-Kenntnisse ermöglicht. Produkte auf dieser Basis helfen Entwicklern Zeit und Kosten sparen, da sie es erlauben, auf vorhandene Software-Komponenten aufzubauen, die speziell für digitale Audio-,
Video- und Multimediasysteme optimiert wurden.
Um das Maximum an Performance für umfangreiche Multimedia-Applikationen zu erreichen, die auf TMS320DM644x Prozessoren mit DaVinci-Technologie laufen, wird QNX einen Interface-Layer zwischen ARM- und DSP-Cores unterstützen, der auf TIs DSP/BIOS LINK-Technologie basiert.
Multimedialösungen von QNX nutzen so die DSP-Leistungsressourcen voll aus und geben diesen Vorteil automatisch an High-Level Multimedia-Applikationen weiter. Da der DSP die komplexe Medienverarbeitung übernimmt, stehtder ARM-Core für andere Funktionen zur Verfügung. So können Entwickler flexibler arbeiten und zusätzliche Features in ihre Produkte auf DaVinci-Basis integrieren.
QNX bietet darüber hinaus maximale Zuverlässigkeit. Kommt es zu Problemen einer Applikation auf dem ARM-Core, erkennt dies das QNX Neutrino RTOS sofort und die Applikation kann automatisch neu gestartet werden, ohne dabei andere Software zu beeinträchtigen. So wird die in Automotive-Systemen unabdingbare Zuverlässigkeit auch für Consumer-Geräte möglich.

Als Teil dieser Zusammenarbeit bietet QNX ein Board Support Package
(BSP) an, das die Entwicklung von Embedded Video Applikationen mit dem DM644x beschleunigt. Das BSP wird ab dem dritten Quartal 2006 zur Verfügung stehen.
