Mit der Verfügbarkeit des neuen SAN-Connectivity-Pakets stehen Unternehmen, die in Sachen Speicherprodukte auf EMC setzen, sämtliche für den Aufbau eines Hochgeschwindigkeits-SAN notwendigen Produkte zur Verfügung. Sowohl der SANbox 5602 Switch als auch die SANblade HBAs unterstützen eine Übertragungsgeschwindigkeit von 4 GBit/s und wurden von EMC umfassend auf ihre Interoperabilität mit den eigenen angebotenen Speicherkomponenten getestet. Die Lösungen erhielten das Gütesiegel „E-Lab-Tested“, dass das reibungslose Zusammenspiel der Produkte belegt. Das Stackable-Konzept von QLogic bietet EMC-Kunden verschiedene Vorteile. Zum einen können sie ihr Speichernetzwerk nach Bedarf ausbauen. Ausgestattet mit sechzehn 4 GBit/s Fibre-Channel-Ports und vier 10 GBit/s Interswitch-Link-Ports können sie zunächst mit einer 8-Port-Konfiguration starten. Per Zukauf von Software-Lizenzschlüsseln lassen sich, sobald erforderlich, in Viererschritten weitere Ports freischalten. In der maximalen Ausbaustufe stehen somit 64 Ports zur Verfügung. Zum anderen gestaltet sich das Management außerordentlich einfach, da sich mit dem Switch Stack Manager der gesamte Stack als eine logische Einheit verwalten lässt.
