The innovative technology market leader of emission-free fuel cells “Proton Motor Fuel Cell GmbH“ (www.proton-motor.de) from Puchheim near Munich has announced during the IAA fair 2019 its new company foundation with “Schäfer Elektronik GmbH“ (www.schaeferpower.de). The aim of the jount venture “NEXUS-e GmbH“ is the development, production and marketing of fuel cell-based fast charging stations – with or without connection – for battery-powered vehicles. Both companies said that the larger industrial fuel cells from Proton Motor and Schäfer Elektronik`s power electronics, battery and hydrogen storage are to be integrated into a plug-and-play-power unit. This unit will provide in excess of one megawatt (MW) of power to supply electric vehicle charging stations and will be available either as standalone unit or as grid connected unit, which would also be able to support the local grid if required.
The “NEXUS-e“ company board under management of Schäfer CEO Mr. Hansjürgen Schäfer and Proton Motor`s director Sales & Marketing Mr. Manfred Limbrunner expect support across Europe and the UK for the electric car industry to rapidly increase by 2021 leading to demand for electric vehicle charging stations. In order to achieve a zero carbon footprint and to avoid national grid overload, these charging stations are highly likely to be powered by hydrogen fuel cells in order to supply the required electric load without undue stress on the electrical grid.
