This cooperation is another milestone in the longstanding successful collaboration between the Hospitality Management School Hamburg and protel hotelsoftware GmbH. The idea evolved at this year's ITB, where protel air was presented. Ansgar Jahns, responsible for Tourism Management and IT at the HoFa Hamburg, Jessica Lohmann, Head of Marketing at protel, and Ralf Berner at 42 GmbH quickly recognized the benefits of an enriched curriculum with a web-based hotel management solution.
The school's main focus of building practical and related components into the lessons is honored by protel who is itself known for nurturing client relationships. Over the years, experts from protel visited the school and just recently, a workshop was held in May 2012 which focused on the costs and benefits of different management systems. Ralf Berner of 42 GmbH presented the principles of managing multiple hotel based on a central SQL database, mobile solutions for the iPad and discussed the benefits of software-as-a-service (SaaS) solutions.
Ansgar Jahns explains why he is excited about implementing a cloud-based PMS in his school: "At the HoFa Hamburg, we provide the students with a complete hands-on learning experience. A successful curriculum is not possible without it. As an innovative school, we always have our fingers on the pulse of the hospitality industry. With protel Air, the students will work with an impressive and future-oriented solution that will give them insight to efficient and effective hotel management practices."
