- After the P4, the new P6 orbital welding power source with 6 axes and auto-programming now opens up new production possibilities
- New orbital weld heads - smaller, lighter, more ergonomic and adaptable ...
- Finished tubes made from carbon steel - TIG hot wire surface cladding from the leading specialists
- Trade fair premiere: Orbital and mechanised TIG hot wire narrow gap welding

At this year's world trade fair for joining, cutting and surface coating, the world leader in automated TIG welding, Polysoude from Nantes in France, will be showing innovative and especially efficient systems, machines, components and solutions for orbital and mechanised joining as well as cladding.

The market launch of the 300 ampere mobile TIG welding system, for tube assembly using automated orbital welding, opens up new production possibilities for plant construction - technologically, economically and qualitatively. This is made possible by intuitive operation combined with the modular system concept - features only familiar in the successful smaller P4 sister version until now. A large touch screen provides the human-machine interface (HMI). All interactions with the system take place via this interface. It issues all commands to the internal electronics via the software and transmits the status of the joining process to the operator.

Other special features of the P6 are autonomous system configuration and auto-programming. The P6 also features real time welding data recording for a welding result that is guaranteed to be reproducible: In this way, the machine not only detects the type of tool connected, (Open or Enclosed Weld Heads etc.), but it also knows within which limit values the tool can work. Auto-programming takes over the adjustment of the welding parameters down to the last detail.

Along with the precision power source, the weld heads are the most important factor in the joining system when using automated orbital welding. Here as well, the Polysoude development team takes an innovative approach. Visitors can expect significant new developments with open and closed Weld Heads: more compact with significantly smaller dimensions and lower weight; easier to use with quick clamping systems that are independent of the tube diameter.

For wear-resistant finishing to the inside and outside walls of tubes and components, Polysoude has developed a particularly effective system for TIG hot wire surface cladding. With this development, the company has quickly become the leading specialist in the oil and gas exploration fields in Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

The company also has mechanised and automated joining solutions on hand for a number of other branches: The engineers from Nantes have developed a special automated joining technology for boiler construction in power plants - TIG narrow gap welding. This process is especially suitable for joining thick-walled, concentric circular work pieces. This joining technique is favoured for wall thicknesses between 25 and 300 millimetres. After the advanced welding technology was demonstrated with great success to power plant construction companies, Polysoude now presents it for the first time to a broader specialised audience.
