Das ETB Programm unterstützte in den letzten drei Jahren 60 Forschungsprojekte mit insgesamt 104 Millionen Euro. Die Erfolgsquote der Antragsteller ist um ein Vielfaches höher als beim 7. Forschungsrahmenprogramm der Europäischen Kommission.
Um einen Antrag stellen zu können, muss eine Kooperation von Biotech-Firmen aus mindestens zwei der Länder (Deutschland, Finnland, Frankreich, Italien, Niederlande, Österreich, Ungarn) oder Regionen (Baskenland, Katalonien und Madrid aus Spanien und Flandern und Wallonien aus Belgien) bestehen. Neben KMUs können auch außeruniversitäre Einrichtungen und größere Unternehmen in das Konsortium aufgenommen werden.
Nach Aussagen des Projektträgers bestehen auch dieses Jahr wieder hohe Erfolgschancen, den Förderantrag bewilligt zu bekommen. Vorausgesetzt der Innovationsgrad ist gegeben und die Anträge besitzen eine sehr gute Qualität. Anträge für den über 30 Millionen Euro schweren Fördertopf können noch bis zum 27. April eingereicht werden.
