Durch die Unterstützung von Projekten zur Erstanwendung und Demonstration von innovativen Technologien und Verfahren sollen vorhandene Marktbarrieren überwunden und eine breite Markteinführung beschleunigt werden.
Das Förderprogramm steht allen juristischen Personen offen, deren Vorhaben klare und substantielle Vorteile für die Stärkung der europäischen Umweltschutzpolitik aufweisen. Gern gesehen sind dabei kleine und mittlere Unternehmen (KMU). Die Förderhöhe beträgt 50 %, berechnet als Zuschuss auf Personalkosten, Unteraufträge und Investitionsabschreibungen.
Am Donnerstag, den 28. April 2011, veranstaltet die EU-Kommission den europäischen Informationstag zu Eco-Innovation, an dem Neuheiten und Themenbereiche der aktuellen Ausschreibung präsentiert werden.
Nur qualitativ hochwertige und gut durchdachte Förderanträge sind bei Eco-Innovation der Schlüssel zum Erfolg. Reine Forschungsvorhaben sowie Projekte, die sich ausschließlich mit Energiegewinnung und -effizienz beschäftigen, werden nicht gefördert. Die nächste Einreichungsfrist für Eco-Innovation endet am 8. September 2011.
