BIOCHEM ist ein dreijähriges Projekt innerhalb der EUROPE INNOVA Initiative, welches durch PNO auf Anfrage von CEFIC (Verband der europäischen chemischen Industrie) und SusChem (europäische Technologieplattform für nachhaltige Chemie) entwickelt worden ist. Das Konsortium besteht aus 17 europäischen Partnern: Europe Unlimited, Brabo Ventures, Essenscia, Fast Track Consulting (Belgien), CEFIC (EU), Pöyry (Finnland), DECHEMA (Deutschland), Sviluppo Chimica, ASTER (Italien), NWO, PNO (Niederlande), IMADE, Madrid Biocluster, FEIQUE (Spanien), Chemistry Innovation - Knowledge Transfer Network (Koordinator), University of Manchester, und CPI – Centre for Process Innovation (UK).
Konkrete Ziele des BIOCHEM-Projektes sind die Steigerung der Nachfrage von biobasierten Produkten in der Chemieindustrie, die Verbesserung der Innovationsfähigkeit von Startups und KMU, eine vollumfassende Untersuchung des Marktes für biobasierte Produkte, die Entwicklung einer Toolbox, um Unternehmen zu unterstützen und neue Produktideen von KMU voranzubringen
Für BIOCHEM wird PNO Fördermöglichkeiten für Unternehmen und interessierte Akteure identifizieren, die Auswahl und Analyse der förderfähigen Projekte übernehmen sowie KMU bei der Fördermittelnutzung unterstützen, um F&E und Demonstrationsprojekte für innovative Produktentwicklungen im Bereich der biobasierten Produkte durchzuführen.
