Optimized development environment for Infineon's 16/32-bit MCUs

UDE 2.6 supports XC2000/XE166 microcontroller family and AUDO FUTURE family with enhanced debug and test functions

(PresseBox) (Lauta, )
pls Programmierbare Logik & Systeme presents its Universal Debug Engine (UDE) 2.6, a complete test and debug environment for all derivatives of Infineon's XC2000/XE166 family of 16bit microcontrollers, in Hall 10, Booth 10-215 at embedded world 2010.

In addition to the XC2200 Family (Body), XC2300 Family (Safety) and XC2700 Family (Powertrain), which are specifically specified for the automobile sector, the UDE 2.6 also supports the XE166 Family (Industrial), which is optimized for industrial applications. If required, not only is the software tool made available to pls users, but also special emulation devices as well as adapters for devices in 64pin and 100pin packages.

The Universal Emulation Configurator 2 (UEC2) is also included in the comprehensive toolbox. The UEC2, as an addon to the UDE 2.6 together with the emulation devices XC2080ED (144pin) or XC2090ED (176pin), enables a simple recording of the program and data flows as well as a targeted observation of all relevant system processes on the chip. Thanks to this unique feature, even complex applicationspecific errors can be quickly located and eliminated.

The latest version of the Universal Debug Engine offers many additional functions also with regard to current TriCore derivatives of Infineon's AUDO FUTURE family. For example, the UDE 2.6 and the Universal Access Device (UAD) 2 product family from pls are now also usable together with commonly available calibration tools from ETAS on the same target.

The UDE 2.6 can not only be used under Windows XP and Windows Vista, but also, of course, under Windows 7. Furthermore, a complete Eclipse integration with complete cross debugger functionality is already included in the extensive test and debug tool, without extra charge. Further technical details about the Universal Debug Engine 2.6 can be found at www.pls-mc.com.

PLS Programmierbare Logik & Systeme GmbH

pls Programierbare Logik & Systeme GmbH, based in Lauta, Germany, was founded in 1990 by Thomas Bauch and Dr. Stefan Weisse. With its innovative modular test and development tools, the company has demonstrated for almost two decades its position as an international technology leader in the field of debuggers, emulators and trace solutions for 16bit and 32bit microcontrollers. The software architecture of the Universal Debug Engine (UDE) guarantees optimal conditions for debugging SoCbased systems. For example, by means of the intelligent use of modern onchip debugging and onchip trace units, valuable functions such as profiling and code coverage are available for the system optimization. Furthermore, the associated Universal Access Device 2 (UAD2) product family, with transfer rates of up to 3.5 MBytes/s and a wide range of interfaces, offers entirely new dimensions for fast and flexible access to multicore systems. Important architectures such as TriCore, PowerArchitecture, SH 2A, XC2000/XE166, ARM, Cortex, XScale and C166/ST10 as well as simulation platforms of different vendors are supported.
