Secure infrastructure for patient data
To protect their locations effectively against attacks from the internet, the facilities of Märkische Gesundheitsholding use an internet access in the Pironet NDH data centre which is protected in multiple ways. "With the new telemedicine network, we concentrate our entire data communication over a uniform high-security infrastructure," explains Dietmar Dorroch, head of the company's IT. The decisive factor in choosing the provider was therefore the security aspect, says Mr Dorroch: "When handling patient data we are subject to stringent requirements for data privacy and security. Pironet NDH has many years of experience in the health sector, with processes and systems which have security certificates."
All systems use the telemedicine network to access, among other things, the central hospital information system (KIS) which stores the electronic patient data and controls the management processes. Mobile KIS access via encrypted data connections, which thus offer maximum security, is also possible. The main load on the Märkische telemedicine network is caused by radiographs. Instead of transporting developed films or data carriers to the various clinics by courier, the results of examinations are available to the doctors within seconds. MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching) technology in Pironet NDH's corporate network ensures that large volumes of image data are transferred with priority.
Online accounting with Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians
The telemedicine network also incorporates specially protected accesses for online services of the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians Westfalen Lippe. Märkische Kliniken uses KV-Safenet ports, for example, to bill its services with the compulsory health insurance funds online and paper-free.
