Costs reduced by around one third
Relocating to the Business Cloud means that for SAP services and the corporate network SQS achieves better operating reliability and failsafe performance than previously with the inhouse network it operated. At the same time the software test specialist profits from uniform high availability at all integrated locations. SQS is also able to make considerable savings on costs: "Via the Pironet NDH network, we connect locations using the same bandwidth as before and have additional backup routes. In this way, we will reduce our costs in the long term by 34 per cent and the bottom line is that we will obtain a better service for less money," sums up René Gawron, Chief Financial Officer at SQS.
Worldwide availability round the clock
SQS employs the SAP modules FI (Financials), CO (Controlling), MM (Materials Management), HR (Human Resources), BI (Business Intelligence) and SD (Sales and Distribution). Special technical features include Linux as the operating system for the SAP application and the IBM DB2 database which is used. "The ERP systems form the economic heart of our IT. They handle all the main tasks, such as time data collection, travel expenses, accounting and invoicing. As the SAP modules need to be available round the clock for worldwide access, the outsourcing made sense," explains Christian Emonts, IT Country Manager Germany at SQS.
Pironet NDH optimised the failsafe performance of the new corporate network by providing backup links for all connections. At the SQS headquarters in Cologne Pironet NDH implemented the backup connection with a radio relay solution and WLL (Wireless Local Loop) technology.
