IT protection to go
"Mobile devices are frequently the weak spot in an IT security strategy," says Dr. Clemens Plieth, Managing Director Service Delivery and Managing Director at Pironet NDH. "As soon as the computers and data leave a protected Cloud Computing environment, security mechanisms such as hardware firewalls and other factors such as access controls for the company premises are no longer effective." As the use of mobile devices is growing with the increasing spread of Cloud Services, it is all the more important for companies to protect the devices against unauthorised access. "The new encryption solution provides our customers with the option of setting high security benchmarks throughout their entire IT workstation environment," adds Mr Plieth.
Security level as with bank IT
With the new solution Pironet NDH is expanding its range in the "Managed Desktop" sector. Medium-sized companies use this to manage their it device environment from within the Cloud and install system or software updates centrally. Encryption of the mobile devices from within the Cloud is now also possible. Technically the solution is based on certified 256-bit AES encryption. The key used is 2048 bits long. With this key strength companies achieve the same security level as that used by bank IT systems.
Reliable protection - Simple use
The usability of the mobile devices is not impaired by the solution: Users authenticates themselves once before the operating system is booted. The solution then releases access to the operating system. The effect on the system performance is only very little as encryption and decryption are expedited in the processor hardware. In addition, despite the fact that it can be administered centrally, the solution can run offline outside the Cloud, thus also permitting users full access to their system without a network connection.
